Tcng in fedora 8 ???
hi guys.
i am have following probs and doubts... 1.I am having problems compiling tcng-10b.tar.gz for traffic control next generation in fedora 8 (2.6.24). 2.A technical question. My objective is tis. Running fedora on a desktop PC (2 GB RAM,2 GHz processor intel pentium pro).I want to read data from a external disk such as RAID packetize the data ,then push it through the UDP socket over ethernet. But the packets must be pushed out of NIC at regular intervals like say a single 40K data every 10ms. Can tis be achieved using tcng or tc with a leaky bucket filter or sumthin of tat sort???? will love some help from u guys........... |
First fedora 8 is and has been UNSUPPORTED for a while .
fedora 10 ,11 and 12-beta-testing are the ONLY supported versions of Fedora also from http://tcng.sourceforge.net/#src tcng-10b was LAST UPDATED on The current version is tcng-10b (507 kB), released 3-OCT-2004. 5 FIVE years ago in all likely hood it will never compile with gcc4 it MIGHT compile with the legacy gcc34 but IT STILL IS 5 YEARS OUT OF DATE. |
Thanks !!
hi,
thanks for t reply..but is ther no way then to use tcng in fedora 8??? ..... Is kernel 2.4 the only answer ???? |
Fedora 8 has had and NEVER will have any SECURITY updates , or for that matter UPDATES at all , in over a year .
Why do you want or need to run tcgn seeing as there has been NO work on it for 5 rears and the file on sourceforge is even older -- 2001 -- http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcng/files/ |
its not jus fedora .. if tcng wud work in any 2.6 kernel that is enough for me..........
|
then grab the source code from 2003 .Port it to gcc4 .update it .
do a full rewrite of tcng to bring it up to date . |
