System/Administration gui troubles

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I'm having a prob w/ system/admin menu.. about 1/2 the progs reply with a popup that reads "The password you typed is invalid. Please try again".

It does not prompt for a password. Some things work some things don't.

I have no idea where to start troubleshooting this error.

Thanks,
ay

See my answer on Fedora Forums.

(Yeah, many of us are on both.)
My first guess is that you're typing your user password, rather than root's.

System/Administration gui troubles

I get the popup before it ever asks for a password.

by chance are you using KDM to login as ROOT or the Gnome hack to do that ?
if so then about 1/2 of the menu will not work.

OK. Gave up and did re-install. Had a few other bothersome bugs also that are now gone. All is good for now. Thanks anyway to those who tried to help, maybe next time. Guess I'd better start doing my testing new stuff on a VM from now on.
