system is getting struck during installation and keyboard is not working properly
Hi yesterday I have tried to install Fedora X86-64 on my system and I have spent upto 5 hours in it still not succeeded. System is behaving abnormally during installation and after installation also which I am providing below.
I have followed all the initial steps of installation like partitioning selecting packages and setting root password etc then the installation begins and after ten minutes, system is hanging up and a blank screen with mouse pointer is appearing. I have tried several times but no use. The second issue is with keyboard when I press a key another key is being pressed and some times no key is pressed and at some times it is showing that fifty times a particular key is pressed and finally what I am trying to say is that keyboard is not functioning at all. After a lot of struggle I have installed LXDE desktop and when I power on the machine I am unable to login due to keyboard malfunctioning. The same keyboard is working fine now on other operating systems like windows,opensuse12.2 and even it worked fine for fedora15 previously. I have posted the issue to fedora forums and they suggested to view the web page http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F18_bugs. Is there any procedure to install fedora18 from windows OS which I think will succeed. Please suggest whats the problem and the solution to it. Regards, Rupesh. |
My hardware details are
AMD FX 4100 CPU GigaByte 78LMT motherboard 15 inch LCD 8GB RAM |
It will be better to provide your machine specs along with the problem description. Is it having an Nvidia graphics card.
To me from here, it looks like the case of a bad ISO file. Regards. EDIT : We were posting at the same time. |
installed successfully and running gnome properly but how to install remaining packages
With some struggle I have successfully installed Fedora18 OS with gnome desktop and now it is running properly. Now can you please suggest the procedure in detail of how to install remaining packages on my system.
I have searched how to add dvd to yum and now yum is not working properly I mean I am unable to install remaining packages using softwares. Can you please suggest how to delete previously added repositories like local or dvd and suggest the procedure of how to install remaining packages. As I am new to Linux please help me. Regards, Rupesh. |
