Question System Adminstration

Suggestions for handling multiple platform tools layout?
List includes:
/tools
/eda_tools
/build_tools
/vendor_tools
Platforms are Linux, Win XP, Solaris 10, Solaris 2.8
This is a startup, so that the opportunity is wide. Many thanks,
