Sutostart programs take a LONG time to appear

When I log into my gnome desktop all the autostart applications take a minute (or 5) to come up. If I try to logout and I click "Log out" on the confirm dialog then I won't be logged out until 60 seconds later. This happened ever since I decided to have gnome save my session. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance.

Aha!

I fixed the problem, it turns out that I just went to System -> Preferences -> sessions removed all the autostart apps from the first tab, then I removed all the ~/.config/autostart apps. Now I have a clean and fast login.
