suse 9.1 to fedora core 3
hey guys, this evening i decided to whipe out my installation of suse 9.1 and replace it fedora core 3. I chose core 3 because my local bookstore didnt have any books with core 4 installation disks, and ive read a few posts stating that core 4 isnt quite as stable as 3.
First off, installation: Wow, everything installed in 15 minutes! that's the fastest OS installation ive ever seen. I didnt include every pack but the installation was up to around 3.7GB. I couldnt believe how fast this thing was up and running.
Look and Feel: This comes as no surprise but everything looks and feels like Red Hat 9. That's fine with me because ive always been a fan of redhat. The gui isnt as flashy as suse's but again, thats fine with me.
Performance: The system seems noticably faster. Again that could be because the gui doesnt seem as animated as suse's
Hardware Support: Everything installed fine except for my gigabit ethernet card. I'll have to download those and install the drivers myself. Not a huge deal because i have an onboard nic that works fine.
I'll probably reply to this post in a few days once ive had some more time to play around with fedora.
