Question Streaming music to AirPort Express

I have an Airport Express device that let's me stream my iTunes Library to my stereo from my Macbook. I was hoping to stream music through Airport Express from my laptop running Fedora 15, too.

Apparently, Ubuntu users can install pulseaudio-module-raop to that purpose (see http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/apples-...s-ubuntulinux/ ), but for Fedora, no such module seems to exist.

I have installed pulseaudio-module-zeroconf (which provides module-raop-discover, module-raop-sink.so and libraop), but that doesn't seem to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Heinz

Did you solve your query? I'm also running the same configuration as yourself, Fedora 15 and Gnome 3. I presume you are also using Gnome 3 too. I also came across the Ubuntu solution, but I am really cautious about the pulse audio modules. I really like this system and I'm thrilled about Gnome 3 and its work-flow as a desktop, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Right now, I'm looking into a program called raop_play that I downloaded from http://mesh.dl.sourceforge.net/proje...y-0.5.1.tar.gz though I haven't opened the tarball yet, (even this is a solution I am cautious about).

Check this out:
http://raop-play.sourceforge.net/
and this
http://code.google.com/p/raopd/

best of luck to you.

Cheers,
Gustav 4

Hi Gustav 4,

Yes, I'm on Gnome 3. I did come across raop_play at the time, but I didn't try it yet. I was under the impression that the project had been abandoned (the latest release being almost a year old). Also, in the mean time I ran into bigger problems: my Airport Express stopped working altogether after I got a different wireless router. I'd be very much interested to hear how things work out on your end though.

Cheers,
Heinz
