Stop YUM updater daemon on FC9

Hi,

I am using 32-bit FC9 on a Xeon machine.

1. How can I check if the YUM updater daemon is running?
2. If it is running, how can I stop it?
3. How can I bring it back to running later?

More info:
The file /etc/init.d/yum-updatesd is not there. Otherwise, I can do the following.

/etc/init.d/yum-updatesd status
/etc/init.d/yum-updatesd stop

I am using Fedora 9 Sulphur, and i am also having the same problem

The internet connection gets used automatically & downloads take place, which is wat i want to avoid.

I went in Services, there is no YUM service to disable. What to do? I want to use internet, but i dont wan automated downloads taking place.

Try Gnome menu: System->Preferences->Personal->Sessions
Under the tab "Startup programs" you have an option to uncheck "PackageKit Update Applet".

Maybe this helps...?
