Stop automounting

How can I stop FC3 automounting pen drives and other usb devices?

I have seen posts that want automount but none that want it turned off!

I understad that it may be something to do with pamconsole but cannot find out how to configure this.

/etc/fstab seems to get changed as a drive is attached and taken off

If I trun off hotplug, won't that mean usb is no longer available? If I turn it on to access a usb device will it then just autoload as before. hmmm. I'll give it a try.

What I'm trying to achieve is the system recognising the device but waiting for ME to tell it to mount etc.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the interest. /etc/fstab reads as follows

#This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync' for details
LABEL=/ / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none / dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
LABEL=SWAP-sda3 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder auto
pamconsole,fscontext=system_u:object_r:removeable_t,ro,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

From reading the man pages for fstab-sync, /etc/fstab is generated by the hal daemon and entries are added and taken away when a usb device is inserted or taken out.

I just do not understand at the moment how to alter it.
