Hi all, I have a problem with the sound, anytime I log in to kde, gnome or xfce I must go to System>Soundcard detection in order to get sound working; otherwise I have no sound when I try to play cd's or mp3's. Does anyone how to load sound automatically at desktop (any desktop) startup?? Also, is it safe to use enlightment sound server as audio device on KDE??
Thanks in advance.
By the look of things everyone is haveing the same problems. I am running fedora core 3 on the computer that has no sound. What i have been able to do is use the sound card dectect to get sound back. For playing my cd's i rip the in sound jucier while logged in as root the copy the file to my regular log on account. Then i switch back to my regular log in and use the soundcard detector again an listen to them that way. For some reason FC3 hates sound i guess.
Im not sure but my main problem is that i have installed flashplayer and even though it installed fine i still get no sound from web pages. Its really annoying when i want to visit my flash pages, and have no sound to here the movies.
Anyone able to fix there sound at all. I using an Audigy 2 for my sound card.
Originally posted by lihmin i hav similiar problem, what i did to resolve it is disable sound system/support in KDE control center, so that system won't use KDE's arts.
This worked i dont need to look up my sound card for regular sound stuff anymore. But i still cant here sound from web pages. Any thoughts? e.x. of a site i go to is http://homestarrunner.com
Try killing artsd (or esd in gnome) before switching sound using apps. It's a pain, but it usually works. A hardware based soundcard usually won't have these problems.
i tried http://homestarrunner.com/ , flashplayer simply works in mozilla after installed.
if u use konqueror, then setting - configure konqueror - plug in - scan new plugin,
after konqueror found the plug in, i also uncheck use artsdsp... in Plugins tab
