some very basic questions about vmware player and fedora core 5

I am currently running fedora core 5 and i tried downloading the free rpm from the website. the software installer said it installed successfully however I cannot locate it nor can i call it up in the console. I then tried downloading the tar.gz file but after i extract with "tar xvf" I "cd" into the newly created and find no further means of installing.
thanx in advanced

after you install from the rpm, type vmware in the console. it should give further instructions on how to configure it.

Go to a console qand type vmwareplayer

If that does not work ( I can't remember off the top of my head the command) then do locate vmware and you should find the command.

do you know them

if you cant get any of those commands to work, you probably dont have vmware installed.

you need to configure vmware...as a root type /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl at the command prompt and follow the instructions. You need to have gcc installed (may be kernel headers too) as vmware modules are compiled during configuration.
