My first guess is that something is wrong with the ROM you are trying to play. If you can post the type (zip or scm), the game name/filename and filesize, I could check if something is wrong.

Alternatively, try another ROM. You could also give ZSnes a shot. I found it to be far more reliable than Snes9x, although a bit hard to compile. You should not have any problems finding a RPM for your distro though...

i was trying more than one rom. they all produced the same message.. here are the filenames

"[0002] Super Mario 64 DS (U).nds","Banjo-Kazooie.rom","Mario64.n64"

others too but I got the same message with all of them. I am going to try znes now.

Ok. The problem is that those ROMS are not for Super Nintendo. The first ROM is for the Nintendo DS. The second and the third file are for Nintendo 64 (N64 for short).

So neither Snes9X or ZSnes will be able to run those images. If you still want to play those games in a Nintendo DS emulator, I think you'd better save your time and effort. There are just a few emulators around and they pretty much stink so far. For Nintendo 64, things are a lot brighter. Mupen64 is a "good" one for Linux, Project64 is a great one for Windows.

If you still want to check how Nintendo DS emulation is doing, google for "DeSmuME" and "iDeaS". iDeaS actually work better in Windows... as is the case for most emulators around in my humble opinion.

Regards!
