Smartd Fails on boot up everytime?

When I look at the details during my Fedora Core 2 boot up, I see everything has a green ok next to it except this utility called smartd fails everytime.

Just wondering this is a critical problem or should be fixed? Can I make it go away or modify this?

make it go away

under system settings>services and uncheck smartd...its not important, it just tries to enable s.m.a.r.t checking on your hdd, in case its gonna blow up soon.

Thanks - have not rebooted yet to see if iy worked but I did de-select that guy and save changes .
