Slightly trickier sound prob

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I just installed Fed. 11
The sound didn't work.
I read a lot and searched around, found:

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...problems+sound

Now I have sound, can play a CD! Woohoo!

But: if I plug in my external speakers, no sound! Boohoo¡¿

Anyone know how to solve this? I have an Asus Laptop. Before I upgraded Ubuntu, everything worked. Now nothing works in Ubuntu, so I installed Fed on another partition.

What desktop is this gnome or kde? In kde you have to turn on the external amp and tell it you are using the line for speakers. Whether it be a headphone jack or line or etc.....

Pulse

Thanks.

I seem to have got the hang of Pulse. I like it! But my problem is the hardware. Experts have taken the comp apart. There is nothing wrong. It just doesn't work. (That was the expert opinion) Must be a failure in the sound chip. Sadly, I don't have my receipt. They gave me a workaround: a usb stick with sound output. But it has a lot of fuzz, like badly tuned in radio. I don't know, but I think laptops have an on-board sound chip, so I can't just replace the sound-card.
