Can anybody direct me towards a nice and easy way to install apt, and have some decent sources to install things?

I have apt installed, though I'm not quite sure if I did something wrong. The first time I ran it, it asked me for my sources, and what I wanted, something like Fedora, Fedora Extras, and Macromedia.

But now, 2 things I would like to install... frozen-bubble and vim, it doesn't seem able to do either.

I might just be a Debian junky still who has been spoiled with apt-get's goodness, but I just can't seem to make it work as it once did.

I'm more than open to using yum, but I can't get either to install with it either...

after you installed, did you run

apt-get update

to update your pkg/dependency tree? it won't work unless you've run this at least once..

Yep, I knew to as its the first thing I always do in Debian before installing anything.

Perhaps I'm missing a decent sources.list file, or something?

did you run "apt-get mirror-select"

this will help you make a sources list

[root@phobos sources.list.d]# apt-get mirror-select
E: Invalid operation mirror-select
