Question simple email relay

Hello everyone,

I use Mozilla/IMAP to download mail from my school's server, and use their outbound SMTP server to deliver mail when I am on campus. From my apartment, I have to use their web-mail to deliver mail, but then Mozilla gets out of sync, etc. I have an extra PC in my apartment running Fedora for HTTP, SSH, etc. and was wondering what the easiest way would be to set up an SMTP server to deliver mail from Mozilla while working from home. I have sendmail and postfix installed, but everything I have read looks like it is now very difficult to set up a mail relay thanks to the spammers. My home network is behind a NAT Cable router, and I do not intend to open inbound SMTP. All I want is to be able to deliver mail from my laptop, and have replies go to my school's mail server.

Is there an easy way to set this up on sendmail, postfix, or exim that does not require DNS?

Thank you,

Michael

sendmail and postfix setup

Sorry to post my request here but I need help. I have two servers running in my network. One email server is sendmail and the other is postfix. I want to have an idea how to synchronize my users of sendmail and users of postfix to be able to "see" each other. My postfix does have a user named user1 and Sendmail server does have user2. Meaning, each mail servers has their own respective users. So, if I want to send email from postfix to sendmail, I have to type

mail -v user2@sendmail.mydomain.com

Right now, i can send email from postfix to sendmail (and vise versa) but i have to type the whole mail server names. If I typed in user2@mydomain.com from postfix server, it will not recognize by postfix bec its looking at its own database. The same case with sendmail.

I hope I explain it clear.

Regards
