I have java working prefectly in Firefox, but, ever since mozilla changed to seamonkey, no java runs in seamonkey.
However, aboutlugins shows it, and I have copied libjavaplugin_oji, (or wahtever that is) into the plugins directory in /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.0.7/plugins.
Still, no joy, I don't know what to try next, any ideas?
Hmmm, me too. Looky:

This WORKS in FF and in Opera, just fine, but not in Seamonkey.
I did my _oji as a symlink, but that always worked before.
I don't know what to try to solve this.
Someone?

Only to remove the rpm package and parts of the hidden users .mozilla directory. You want to keep the firefox subdirectory but nothing else. Also remove the old /usr/lib/mozilla-XXX and /usr/lib/seamonkey-XXX directories and install the latest version of seamonkey fresh.
For the hidden users .mozilla directory you want the remove the default subdirectory and the appreg, mozver.dat and pluginreg.dat files.
Well, thank you. Please, before I do that, I need to be able to run FF, seamonkey, and Opera, all working with java enabled. Am I about to break something?
Hmmm, lacking a reply, I just renamed all of that stuff, and removed seamonkey, and reinstall. Doing that has broken my firefox java. I moved all of the renamed files back, but I still don't have java in firefox, and it doesn't work in seamonkey either, It DOES work in Opera.
Any ideas?

You should have only deleted or renamed the /usr/lib/mozilla-<some number here> and /usr/lib/seamonkey-<some number here> directories. Did you perhaps accidentally remove or rename the /usr/lib/mozilla directory?? Does this directory have a link to the /usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so file and the others as you listed in reply #3??
Notice the verion of the java jre I have installed (/usr/java/jre1.6.0/) you might want to upgrade.
You need to log out of the GUI after the removal or renaming then log back in or things will not update.
OK, we are all back together here. I don't really know what I did wrong, or right, but java is working in all 3 apps now. Wish I could lay my hand on what went wrong, in order to be of help to others, but, in my frantic effort to recover, I changed so many things.
Thanks, all!
