Samba Extension on KDE

Hello Everybody!

I've a problem with Samba Manager in KDE (KDE Control Center, Internet & Network, Samba)

When I pick-up a unix user and add to the Samba users (after setting a password), I press Apply button.

When I try to access the share that I've created, in Windows Box (WinXP) an dialog box appear asking me username and password for that share.

I put the name of user and password, and the dialog box appears again, and again...

Back to Samba admin in KDE, the user that I had added just disappear!

And, I click to add the user again.. Again I put the password. Again I press Apply button.

And, when I close the KDE Control Center and Open Again, the user isn't there!

This is a Bug?

There is another good and simple Samba GUI to admin my fileserver?

I search in google and I find the SWAT, but, It seems too complicated for me...

Any Help would be very appreciated.

MarcSant.

I haven't used the KDE control center for adding in Samba users, but it sounds like there is a security permission issue preventing you from saving changes to the Samba setup. In the past, I've used SWAT for configuring Samba, or used the Webmin module to control access. If you're using Fedora Core 4, there's probably an rpm available for either SWAT or Webmin that will get in installed automatically and allow you to control it all from a web front-end. Shouldn't be that hard to get up and running.

The direct website for Webmin is http://www.webmin.com, and even if you install by hand, it's a very easily install and shouldn't pose too many problems even if you're starting out in Linux.
