RH9 + Fedora =RHN -- Fedora = No RHN??
 

I went through and wiped out all my hard drives (3) and started re-installing all my distros in a more organized setup.

My problem is, I installed RH9 first and got it registered with the Red Hat Network (I paid for entitlement 3 months ago and it doesn't expire until 9/3/04) and was able to update it nicely with Up2date. I then upgraded it to Fedora and used Up2date with no problem in Fedora to update it.

Then, as luck would have it I had a problem with WinXP Pro that caused a big problem on my 1st hard drive so I formatted the hard drive and was ready to begin again but this time figured I would just install Fedora and skip all the upgrading junk w/ RH9. Fedora installed fine and I was up and running, I tried to update the packages through up2date but kept getting an error message about not being registered with the Red Hat Network. I went to RHN's website and can pull up my system info and entitlement and everything is fine. For some reason on a stand alone Fedora install it won't let me use Up2date for anything.

Anyone have any advice or should I just start over and install RH9 first and go through the upgrade process again to get back to Fedora?

You don't need entitlements for FC1. It's free for all. Just ignore the error and try and go on like it's not a problem. After you get all your updates that will stop because they updated up2date at one point so it would not throw that error at you.

Normally I would agree and ignore the warning and move on but after the warning goes away it doesn't let me download any updates. It lists them but won't let me go any further. The button in the bottom right corner is non-responsive.

There was an update released to fix this problem, it is available here:

I think this is the one to download, but I may be wrong.

Download it and upgrade and then see if that works.

Yep, that's the one, but that location is very slow, I posted a link to one of the mirrors in my previous post so I suggest you try that one.

Yep that fixed the problem, its odd though that I sent an e-mail to the Fedora Project team from the link at their website and all I got back was an invitation to upgrade to Red Hat Enterprise Edition with a 25% discount since I have entitlement available still. Odd but whatever.
