respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

I just installed FC3 on VirtualPC 5.1, upon install completion and reboot, I came up with the following error:

(none) login: root
INIT: ID "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

Reading through this and other forums, it was said this is probably an X problem and to change the errorlevel to view logfiles and troubleshoot.

I changed the errorlevel in GRUB to 1 and now it hangs at
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this further?

How did you change the errorlevel? If you just put a "1" in the boot line, you're trying to start a RUNlevel 1. If this is the case, try using a "3" in order to boot without the X-server.

hi,

i too got the same error while running in VP. i change to runlevel 1 , i got nor more processes left in the runtime. i changed to runlevel 3 it says "X' respwaning too fast. disabled for 5 min...

kindly give solution if u face the same problem.
