You'll note that repository is a noun---therefore it does not "work". In the context of Linux, perhaps you meant to ask "How does package management work?"
Seriously, you will get much better help here if you will ask complete questions including the context (i.e. explain why you are asking the question) thanks but i still can't understand when i installed fc9 on my system it was without mp-3 it used to show the error mp3 decoder missing but after few day's of auto update's it started playing mp-3 music as well as all the video formats |
OK, so your system is updating automatically? Is that what you want it to do?
Have you used the package manager? In the menus, look for something called "Add/Remove Software" or maybe "Add/remove programs" I don't know if this is relevant, but FC9 is a bit out of date. |
hi
I was using fc-9 long time back it was having audio ; video problem but it rectified automatecly after the auto updates Now I am using fc-10 but there is no auto updates hince there is no MP-3, Video's player's Now I am unable to play MP-3 ; Dvd VIDEO'S Thanks |
As mentioned, look into the Add/Remove Software menu.
Alternately, at the cmd line (as root) yum grouplist yum groupinstall "<group name>" # probably you want yum groupinstall "Sound and Video" See here http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-2531 |
