Repositories

Ok I downloaded Fedora to give it a go. (long time Mandrake user)

I installed apt-get and synaptic. Cant seem to find to many repositories out there. Here is what I got:

rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 core updates
rpm http://apt.physik.fu-berlin.de fedora/fc1/en/i386 at-testing

rpm http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/1/i386 stable unstable testing
rpm-src http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/1/i386 stable unstable testing

rpm http://download.fedora.us/ fedora/fedora/1/i386 stable unstable testing updates
rpm-src http://download.fedora.us/ fedora/fedora/1/i386 stable unstable testing updates

Does anyone have any more? Any third party stuff?

Is there a site for RH or Fedora for loading of repositories? Like Mandrakes PLF site?(easy urpmi)

Also:

Can anyone tell me why Fedora or RH does not come with apt-get or similar program for dependency issues?

Fedora *DOES* come with an apt-like program, it's called yum and is already set up for you. Try "yum list" or "yum search".

There is another repository for freeworld packages available at rpm.livna.org

there are dag's repo's which have alot of good 3rd party rpms, check his site, which also lists other useful repo's:

http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/

OK went to Dags and did what it said.

Added the file dag.list in the /etc/apt/sources.list.d directory.

In it is:
### Dag Apt Repository for Red Hat Fedora Core 1
rpm http://apt.sw.be redhat/fc1/en/i386 dag

When I goto update it "apt-get update"

Failed to fetch http://apt.sw.be/redhat/fc1/en/i386/base/pkglist.dag 404 Not Found

If you go there - http://apt.sw.be/redhat/fc1/en/i386/base/ you will find the ../base directory empty.

How did you get it to work?

stuNNed 11-10-2003 06:59 PM

yep,

rpm http://apt.sw.be redhat/fc1/en/i386 dag

should work, i don't know why it's empty atm, i know i used it with ease with redhat 9

also there's these other repo's mentioned at dag's:

ATrpms, FreshRPMS and Newrpms

can be found at their sites.

i can't remember, since now i am using Gentoo, but one of these repo's gave really nice packages, i.e. a chrooted mldonkey.

the one repo, back then, which i didn't like...fedora...now happens to be rh's community project, odd.

you might want to email the guy at dag's and let him know his fc1 repo is empty, or something.

good luck!
