Smile Real Player not found in KDE

I started off using Gnome. I installed Real Player and it worked fine. I worked with Gnome for awhile and decided I would try the KDE side of the Fedora install. I started KDE,my real player folder is in my home directory. However, I went to the KDE menu under Sound and video and there is no real player icon to launch the program. I tried the running command from run, but that did not work either. Is there a way that I can get KDE to recognize the Real Player install I made in Gnome, or do I have to download real player for the KDE side. Any input to what I might be doing wrong would be appreciated.

Thanks
Frank

Open a konsole session and try;

$ locate realplay
$ /the/path/to/realplay

If you need additional help;

How did you install Real Player???

Hi arunvk and Lenard,

Thanks for the reply.
Lenard, I installed real player through yum. The real player file is in my home directory. Real Player was working fine on the gnome side. I then installed Mplayer and I noticed that the real player icon was gone from the sound and video menu on both gnome and KDE. I ran the updatedb command and then typed realplay in the run box. At that point the Helix player came up. So as I see it now,my train of thought makes me think that installing Mplayer which also installs a plugin in the browser somehow interferred with Real player. Also, I did the open office update through yum and now I can't get anything to print. I swear I have screwed up things pretty well. Do either of you have any idea why the printer does not work now? It worked fine before I did the office update. Thanks to both of you for your input.

OK, thanks for the how you installed the package (HelixPlayer). Sounds like the path for realplay is in your pathing, so far so good. Installing mplayer should not change or add a plugin to the browser. You may have installed the mplayerplug-in package which does make changes to the browser plugins which does affect the browser and playing realplayer files from the browser, but should not remove any icons in KDE or Gnome.

As far as printing goes, maybe another update associated with the openoffice yum update did affect your printing. Maybe you need to re-configure your printer, for this use; http://localhost:631 instead of using the supplied system-config-printer tool.
