ps3 fedora 8 ppc x64 + java jre install

I ame curenty configure the ps3 to run with loki render farm. http://loki-render.berlios.de/

For that program to work correctly, i need blender installed and at least java 1.6.0.

I can install all correctly, exept java. What ever i do, i cant seem to get java to work.

I alreade did the following things:

(all as root of course)

yum upgrade (for a system update, no errors, no hangs, all installed ok)
yum update java
followd the link for fedora 11 java install
http://www.google.pt/url?sa=t&source...hSBeccEIfRTxAg

When i do in a terminal java --version, i get the following info:

# java --version
java version "1.5.0"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33)

Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO
warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

yum update java gives me the next error:

# yum update java
updates-newkey 100% |=========================| 2.3 kB 00:00
fedora 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB 00:00
updates 100% |=========================| 2.6 kB 00:00
Setting up Update Process
Could not find update match for java
No Packages marked for Update

whit the command alternatives --config java, i get the next info:

# alternatives --config java

There is 1 program that provides 'java'.

Selection Command
-----------------------------------------------
*+ 1 /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.5.0-gcj/bin/java

Enter to keep the current selection[+], or type selection number:

When i try to install a .bin file from sun, the x64 package, i get the next error:

Checksumming...
Extracting...
./jre-6u18-linux-x64.bin: line 366: ./install.sfx.5404: cannot execute binary file
Failed to extract the files. Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of
the Installation Instructions on the download page for more information.

i get the same when i try to install a i368 version.

What can i do to get java working on the ps3?
Is there way to get a up to date version of java working on f8?
Even its a open version?

Its offcourse obvious that i try to make a small render farm, mixed whit macs, linux amdx64, and the ps3.

ps: On the other machines, i already have loki working whitout anny problems.
ps2: i only need to get java working. i do not need the plugins for firefox.
