problems with 2.4.22-1.2174 Fedora Core 1 kernel

Yesterday I updated my kernel from 2.4.22-1.2149 to 2.4.22-1.2174. With the new kernel the fan goes nuts every 20 minutes or so for about 2 minutes (I checked I pass the acpi=on option to the kernel on boot). I am using a Compaq Presario 2500 Laptop. Anyone else had problems with the 2.4.22-1.2174 kernel ? - I have also had one complete keyboard freeze messing up a bunch of my work on remote computers because I had to reboot the laptop.

i think you shoud recompile the kernel and update your .config options. use xconfig is quicker.
