Angry Problems compiling!

Well now that i installed Fedora, and it seems nice. I was wanting to put some extra programs that i use ... for example irssi-text and emule!

But it didin't!

Here's the result for irssi-text:
-------------------------------------------------------
./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal-1.4... missing
checking for working autoconf... missing
checking for working automake-1.4... missing
checking for working autoheader... missing
checking for working makeinfo... missing
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no
checking for strerror in -lcposix... no
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH
--------------------------------------------------------------
i almost convinced this as nothing to do with Fedora, but from the way i installed it.
Is the gcc compiler install? i'm new so that way i can't resolve this "simple" problem.

here's for the Imule:
----------------------------------------------------------------
./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for g++... no
checking for c++... no
checking for gpp... no
checking for aCC... no
checking for CC... no
checking for cxx... no
checking for cc++... no
checking for cl... no
checking for FCC... no
checking for KCC... no
checking for RCC... no
checking for xlC_r... no
checking for xlC... no
checking for C++ compiler default output... configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables
--------------------------------------------------------------------
probably the same problem, similar maybe.

Can some one clear my brain on this?

Only a guess 'cos I'm a noob, but it looks like you don't have the compilers installed.

Login as root and click the redhat icon in the corner, then go to
system settings > add/remove applications
then scroll down and tick "development tools" and "kernel development" this should install the packages you are missing.

then you can try again

I hope that's right.

Mummy help did I do good ?

Yup, agreed with gibbylinks. Seems you don't have development tools installed at all. You just need the development tools and most probably the wxGTK (can be found in fedora.us repository and not in any of the CDs).

That is true ... i don't have it installed, but, when i go to install it, it askes for cd number 2 and them hangs up. Not the OS but that aplication gives one error!

Do i have to install all by hand? i think that is going to be really hard

The Add/Remove Packages is buggy. It is looking for /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/ instead of /mnt/cdrom/Fedora/. Download the following update:

http://people.redhat.com/~katzj/redh...7-1.noarch.rpm

It doesn't fix the whole lot still, what I did was to download the src and recompiled a new rpm. If you need the new rpm that I compiled, do let me know.

I've been able to get around the buggy add/remove program by letting the first CD auto load then do the install from there. I have a DVD drive and a CD drive installed so I just put CD 2 or 3 in the second drive.
