Problem with logout

Hi,

I am a novice at Linux. I recently installed Fedora Core 3. It worked fine in the start but now I am having problems with logging out. When I press the logout button, the gui for shutting down, restarting or logging out takes a long time to come up. Even if it does and I select an option and press enter, the desktop just freezes for a while. Lately the lock screen feature also takes a lot of time to become active.

I must mention here that I can restart the computer perfectly well using the reboot or shutdown -r command but it is the gui that refuses to work.

Hope somebody out there has a solution.

Akbar

RE:Problem with logout

I guess that can be one possibility because I have 512 MB of swap space which is exactly the same as my RAM. However if that was the problem then it should have happened from the start. Further more when I use the shutdown -r command from the shell it shutsdown perfectly. I guess it must be a bug in the Gui but i can't find a fix.

A quick glance at Google suggests that it may be caused by a bug related to your video card. What card are you using?

Video Card

My video card is GEForce NVidia Fx 5500. But the problem is that only the shutdown menu refuses to come when I press logout. Every other thing keeps working okay. Then after a delay of about 3-4 minutes it suddenly appears.
