fedora 11 is a dead version
it went End Of Life on 2010-06-25

DO NOT use it
there have been NO security updates to it in almost two years

for a machine like that look into using CentOS 5.7 it is still supported and will be for a bit

however ? 601 MHz ? is this a very old Pentium 3 cpu from 1998

if so you might want to look at puppy Linux or "Damn Small Linux"

Fedora 16 is the current release, however, your hardware is much too old:

Quote:
2.3.1. Processor and memory requirements for x86 Architectures
Fedora 16 may be installed on most "modern" x86 processors. (There are some "secondary architectures" supported by special interest groups for processors like Power PC, System/390 and ARM).
The minimum processor speed depends on the end use, the method of installation, and the specific hardware. Although some configurations might work on a Pentium 3, most users should consider a Pentium 4 or more modern processor, or the equivalent processor from other manufacturers. Fedora 16 is able to take full advantage of modern, multi-core architectures.

Minimum RAM for text-mode: 768 MiB
Minimum RAM for graphical: 768 MiB
Recommended RAM for graphical: 1152 MiB
Time to upgrade your computer!

Damn Small Linux is as dead as Fedora 11, I wouldn't recommend that. For a machine like that I would recommend antiX.

A kernel panic is when the kernel (which is the core of an operating system) runs into an unrecoverable error.
