Question Problem w/ Desktop

m having a weird problem with my desktop. went ever i insert a cd or audio cd into my dvd burn they show up on my desktop. but if i insert a dvd movie or data cd i have to open nautilus and click on the computer icon and open the dvd from there. I most likely did something with noticing. Ok heres my question:

I believe that a video dvd doesn't actually get mounted (like an audio cd), which is why it doesn't appear on your desktop. I'm not sure how you can fix this problem though.
