Problem installing Fedora 4
Hi,
Iam trying to install Fedora 4 on my system iam running linux redhat 9 i copied the iso image files to my HDD and i burned it on the 4 cds with CD writer I verifed the SHA1SUM with the iso and they match when i click the cd writer it mounts the cd and show the just iso file i burnt (burn:// copied the iso file from hardist to burn:// and the click write to disk) well when i tried to reboot the system with disc1 it it doesnt start instllation it checks for CD ROM and finds it and then giving the fail to start eror and goes straight to redhat 9 well i installed the redhat9 two days back with the cd and it worked i copied the iso files on my HDD and i have only one partition how to go about installting from HDD or how to make the cd to boot tried all possibilities went thru lot of stuff on google all the day no luck if somebody can help me to install (32bit) FEdora 4 iam running P3 with 600mhz and 384mb sdram help will be grtly appreciated Thanks in advance |
You didn't burn the iso image to the cd; you simply copied the iso file to the cd. I don't use cdrecorder, so I don't know if it has the capability to burn an iso image, but k3b does. Try it. It's under Tools->Burn CD Image.

I burnt the iso with cdrecord -v -data -dev=(x,y,z) isofile iam able to burn the files well when i ran the command it said the total size 723 and then after 2 lines it said track 1 data 623 mb then it tried copying before completing 623 it give some erros but anyhow burnt it at the end fixation blah then i mount the cd and i was able to see the contents in the cd whn i tried to install it it failed media check for all cd's i ignored the error and then tried to install it with first cd it gave me anoconda error after formating the partion then i burn another disk for cd one and then tried again this time i didnt get anoconda error but i got error saying the disk may be corrupted or the one of the files on the cd might be damaged iam really confused i copied the iso files from fedora site i tried to copy the iso files from linuxiso.org but the fedora core 4 files are not available i almost wastd 12 cd's iam really comfused and dont know what to do what was wrong any suggestions will be accepted Quote:
