PPPoE problem

I install Fedora 7 out of the box and use pppoe-setup to configure everything. However when I use the "/sbin/ifup ppp0" command nothing happens, no error message, nothing. The same with pppoe-start. I have phiberoptic cable, 10Mb/s, not xDSL. My card is properly configured and recognized by Fedora 7. What am I doing wrong?
