pcmcia stopped working with update

Hey all. I tried upgrading kernel-pcmcia-cs to version 3.1.31-16 (because up2date said an update was available) with apt-get. It gave me some kind of errors because it was conflicting with the old version... I dunno. So i went and uninstalled the old version and just installed the new version. Everything seemed fine but the next time I booted, my PCMCIA card (which is a wireless card) did not start. Here are the /var/log/message outputs from before and after.

Before:

Mar 10 10:50:21 localhost kernel: ds: no socket drivers loaded!
Mar 10 10:50:21 localhost kernel: unloading Kernel Card Services

If anyone knows what to do please help. If you need any more information, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem. My pcmcia is all hosed up and doesn't even beep when I insert my wireless card. Did you find a solution?

I remember during the upgrade it complained about existing config files or something and save a bunch of files to .rpmnew I think.

Yeah... I don't remember exactly where it was. Umm, look in /etc/pcmcia and see if you see any files with .rpmold or something along those lines. For me, the old file was just backed up as .rpmold (I think) and I just renamed it back to what it needs to be. It wasn't too complicated, but if you have anymore questions I'll try to help out as much as I can.
