Password Problem in Fedora Core (2.6)
Hi All
This is my 1st post and I hope to get help with this My problem that it ask me for user name and password And I don't know this Is there anyway to reset this password I have Fedora Core (2.6.11-1_fc4smp) And I completely new with this environment The scenario is that this instillation is on virtual machine and I’m using VMware application for this Also I don't have the instillation desks for fedora i know it's holies case but may someone expert can help out thanks. |
Boot your VM, at the GRUB boot prompt select your kernel, press "e" to edit, add a "1" at the end of the line that starts with the word "kernel". Now boot that kernel and you will be in runlevel 1 which is not automagically protected on regular installs. You'll end up at a prompt after which you can type "passwd" to change the root password or for example "passwd tagwar" to set a password for existing user named "tagwar". Type "telinit 3" will make the multi-user and network stuff come up after which you can log in or type "telinit 5" instead to have the previous plus the graphical shell stuff.

even after i write what you told me i try to restart but i found the line not saved means what ever i add to the line after restarting it go back to defult setting. i hope you got me. it's not saving after i add the Quote:
after i press "e" i can edit then i press enter key but every time it go back to the same thing. and i have to add this again and again something more is there any spaces between the "1" and the prvious word. http://www3.0zz0.com/2007/12/25/04/41638734.jpg check the above image |
You can't save it until you can access the image properly (and it shouldn't be necessary unless you want to add a separate GRUB entry for it) and the kernel line requires spaces between items.
