padlocks on my desktop folders

simple but yet stupid question

why is there little red padlocks on my desktop folders?
how can i remove them?
a step by step info would be nice ( so i don't screw up my system)


any ideas?

Are you part of the root group? Remove yourself from that. If that doesn't work, I've read reinstalling gnome-vfs sometimes works.
