Opera Problems

Trying to run Latest version of Opera with no banners in FC4 and I get the following error message
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libjvm.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libawt.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
Segmentation fault.

The lib files they are indicating are at,
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_04/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_04/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_04/lib/i386/libawt.so

What do I have a PATH problem? and what command do I run to correct problem?

Thanks
Jim

so does opera start AND give you those error messages? that's what mine does. I get those errors, opera starts but java won't work. several have posted on that topic.

Yes, That is the errors I get when I start Opera.
Anyone come up with a solution yet ?

Thanks
Jim

can you validate your path to java? Tools > preferences > advanced > content > java options

also, you can test if java works here

Does java work for you?

There are some suggestions on this post

Yes java displays the hurricane and it's movement.

well then java is working fine. I'm sure that error is all about the java. If your java works, then don't worry about it. I, on the other hand, get that error and my java doesn't work :(

i had same errors if you add those 2 libs the errors will stop. i dont remember with fedora where to locate them i know in ubuntu they are in synaptic or you can apt-get install libjvm.so in ubuntu.

They are in FC4 already, where are they supposed to be located?

did you try and follow the path that they are giving you to see if the libs are there already? and as for the hurricane tracker im not so sure thats a good test due to my opera can see it just fine but if i go to my website i have a chatroom and you need java to see it and i cant see it with opera. try going to www.freewebs.com/joeboxernc and click on the chatroom link on left see if you can view chatroom.

I can't get Opera to open because it can't find the lib files that are install in fedora4.
I don't know where Opera is looking for the two lib filies.
