Nvidia splash screen on a TFT monitor

Hi, may be wrong place, I don't know. I am on FC5. I just bought a LCD monitor. Always, before, on my old CRT, when X started I got a flash of a fullscreen Nvidia logo before it cleared and Gnome cranked up. Not any more. I am sure I am running the nvidia modules, glx, and all of that, but, no splash screen. What can this be? I can't (conveniently) go back to the CRT, but I'm sure if I could, the splash would be there. It's something about this TFT, maybe? I want to see the SPLASH!
Thanks, Ray

Check your xorg.conf for NoLogo option and disable it.

Nope, my xorg.conf does not have anthing like NoLogo.
Also, no changes have been made in there, except to the Horiz. Freq, which was a little higher for this TFT thingy.

Another suggestion, please?

I have the splash enabled but I hardly see it because X starts up really fast.

are you sure that the nvidia drivers are active for whatever display number your flat panel is? you might as well fire up glxgears just to be sure. have you switched from a normal db15 analog port to a dvi digital? if so, this may be the case.

Thank you. glxgears is about 3000 and some odd. Nope, no changes, we are still using the same plug, etc.

try

nvidia-config-display enable

and restart X.

if you don't see the splash screen, my bet is that the nvidia drivers are not working.

Thanks. Is nvidia-config-display a command? If so, I don't have it.
The driver is the rpm package from the Livna repo. With over 3000 FPS, I don't think it's about the drivers.

I have same phenomenon

I yesterday plugged my new TFT. I also got no splash screen then. I found that the performance for fgfs is the same as before. But for bzflag the display quality is bad compared to before. Tonight I try to set the resolution back to 1024 as I had with my CRT (now 1280).

I get a splash logo on my 17" TFT but not on my 22" LCD. Go figure.

Ok, my findings are:
No splash screen with my TFT with analog cable.
Plugging in CRT gives splash screen
(without any other modification).
I see the splash screen with dvi cable!!!
But still the quality of bzflag is pure.

A colleague of mine knew that the nvidia driver
knows the type of connected monitor and that there
are sometimes problems.

Rgds,
Michael

I had installed before x86-1.0-8178.
There I saw splash screen but sometimes it was really very fast
that it disappeared. But about 2 of 3 times it was well visible.

Than I installed x86-1.0-9629. No splash screen at all.
And if I started bzflag, X crashed with SIG11.

Than I installed x86-1.0-9631. No splash screen either.
But bzflag again did not crash X. But quality is poor.
Where with CRT the shockwave was semi-transparent,
with TFT I can not see through it. And a regular grid over
the complete screen (only in bzflag, not in fgfs and not without 3D).

Is somebody from Nvidia reading this thread?

Regards,
Michael
