Nvidia KO unloads when power goes out.

So my office has tendency to lose power; so when ever I come into my office in the morning my box is sitting in run level 3, at CLI login.
When I try and startX I get : "Failed to load Nvidia kernel module, screens found but none with acceptable configuration"

Running the Nvidia installer script rebuilds and reloads all the default configuration and it works again, but I'm not sure how to prevent this from happening. Admittedly I'm kind of newb when it comes to X server troubleshooting. I'm not sure where to start to look.

Hi

Since there has been no reply yet, here's a little bit of help with where to start:

The place to begin, would be to closely examine the logs.

After doing the installation of the driver, make a backup copy of the nvidia installer.log.
Once the installer is done and has installed the driver, and all is working properly, make a copy of the xorg.0.log file and have a look through there and familiarize yourself with it.
Finally, when you come to work and the installation is screwed up, after trying to start X, grab a new copy of the fresh xorg.0.log file, adn compare it with the previous one.
Look for obvious signs of trouble, noting in particular the lines marked (EE) where there was no (EE) in the working log.

Based on what you find there, by examining these log files, we/someone might (**might** ) be able to help you diagnose the problem.
In relation to the Error Message you indicated above when you try to start X, maybe there is an issue in your xorg.conf file (the video config file) that would help solve the problem.

Keep us posted.

Sasha
