numeric key pad on 104 key keybd stopped working

my computer: dell latitude d820 laptop on a docking station with an external monitor and keyboard;

os=Linux version 2.6.34.9-69.fc13.i686.PAE;

keybd: 104 key with numeric key pad;

my question/problem: for months i had to hit the combination of "windows logo key" and f8 in order to get an image on the external monitor. this was an inconvenience because of the location of my laptop i had to stand up twice: once to turn on the laptop and a 2nd time to switch the image to my external monitor. then suddenly a few weeks ago i no longer had to hit the "windows logo key" & f8 keys - the image automatically showed on the external monitor. the down side is that the numeric key pad stopped working. i don't know what i did to cause this. i'd like to get the numeric key pad back. please help!!!

Um, I hope you realize that Fedora 13 has been unsupported for several years now, and that the PAE kernel versions are no longer needed.

As to you numeric keypad, have you checked the "num lock" light on your keypad? Perhaps it's not set to what you expect.

Thanks for the reply:
I did check the "num lock" key. on or off, nothing works. I like ver 13 and have been slow to upgrade. However, maybe it's time to upgrade.

Thanks for the reply!
I did check the "num lock" key. However, that is not the problem. On or off, nothing works on the numeric key pad. I happened to like version 13. But, given this problem maybe it's time to upgrade.
