Definitely use Bittorrent. I tried it at work this morning and I had all 3 CD's in about 1 hour. Granted my download speed was at 650K but hey what can you do? ;-)

quoted from the fedora.redhat.com download page. click the following to trigger bittorrent....

for the binary isos: btdownloadcurses.py --max_upload_rate 350 \
--url http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/yarrow...86-iso.torrent
for the source isos: btdownloadcurses.py --max_upload_rate 350 \
--url http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/yarrow...86-iso.torrent

Got it and it seems to be working pretty good. Guy at work downloaded all the .iso files so I just had to burn em. ;)
Used 'yum' and got gkrellm installed, had a little glitch with my flash plugin and mozilla but a quick search of LQ took care of that...
Just an FYI I was getting the error:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so [libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory]

I created a link in /usr/lib -> ln -s libstdc++.so.5.0.5 libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
and the Flash plugin works now.
So far so good.

It would probably take me about a week to download the CDs at 26.4k. That is all the local telephone lines are capable of in my neighborhood. DSL and broadband is not available where I live either. So, I purchased the Fedora Core 1 CDs from LinuxCentral.com for $6.95 plus shipping. They have both the 3 CD disk set and the 6 CD disk set available. That is probably the best solution for those of us with slow dial-up connections or who do not have CD burners.
