Not able to install fedora 12 -- need help
Hello,
I downloaded Fedora-12-i386-DVD.iso and made a boot DVD out of it. I am trying to install Fedora 12 using a USB CD/DVD ROM. Here's what happens next: 1) I get the welcome screen Fedora and 4 options 2) I select option 1 (install) 3) It asks me about what kind of language I want to use for install --- selected english 4) Asks me what kind of english --- selected US english 5) It asks me where to locate the image from there are three options: /dev/hda1 /dev/hda2 /dev/hdb1 I tried all the three but it says it failed to locate the image on the drive. Can someone guide me through this? Do you think USB CD/DVD ROM is not compatible or something, though, I was able to install CentOS 5.4 successfully using the same USB CD/DVD ROM I am kind of stuck and your help is greatly appreciated Thanks, K2 |
4) probably this option is key board type...
5) Here you can't install because... you had those drives mounted. resize them. create a partition. Then install Fedora in that partition. |
Thanks a lot for your response:
4) yes my mistaked, it is for the keyboard. 5) hmmm what if want to start from sratch? In other words how can I re-format the existing partition and start from a clean slate? Appreciate your help, |
If you want from clean state, select those partitions, delete that... and install..
if you face any problems...use automatic configuration -> remove all partitions on this system -> install for picture explanation see this image ... FEDORA disk partitioning |
Thanks a lot I will try it out and let you know,
