Normal user woes in FC5

Hi friends ,
earlier I used to use root account always.
but recently i was advised not to use root for security reasons.
so I decided to use normal account.
Now the problem is I cant access net in normal account.
whenever I use command /sbin/ifup ppp0 ,
it says permission denied.
what to do???
I can use net in root and also in normal account using su -
what to do????

You should either add your normal account to the sudo users list or stick to using su when you need root access.

how to add my account to sudo users list?
if I do this , will it not be the same as running root account , will the security not be compromised????

http://www.courtesan.com/sudo/sudo.html - it will not be less secure because you will only have admin access while you run the command. Also, every sudo attempt is logged so you will be able to see when and by who the command was issued.
