Angry Non Functioning Samba on Fedora Core 2

Okay I'm setting up my second Linux box. I am stuck using FC2 because of compatibility problems with newer versions, but no problem. Anyways, I am trying to setup a shared directory for Windows on my Linux box. But, it just will not work. I have tried everything I can think of. I have searched the Internet and followed any advice there to no avail. I've even got a book that describes how to set it up. I mean everything looks like it is correct. But, I just cannot get the folder to show up on my Windows boxes. I even have the exact same settings as my other Linux box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try adding this to the global settings of /etc/samba/smb.conf:

[global]
preload = shared

Also, have you tried turning off both the windows firewall(s) and the FC2 iptables at the same time while trying to make the smb connection?

Posting your smb.conf would be helpful and would promote your getting useful input.

Unhappy

Here is the contents of the smb.conf file.
I've tried what you suggested and still doesn't work.

[global]

# workgroup = NT-Domain-Name or Workgroup_Name
workgroup = ggjenkins

# sever string is the equivalent of the NT Description field
server string = Jacob's Server

# If you want to automatically load your printer list rather
# than setting them up individually then you'll need this
printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes

# This option tells cups that the data has already been rasterized
cups options =raw

# This tells Samba to use a separate log file for each machine
# that connects
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log

# Put a capping on the size of the log files (in Kb).
max log size = 50

# Most people will find that this option gives better performance.
# See speed.txt and the manual pages for details
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192

# Windows Internet Name Serving Support Section:
# WINS Support - Tells the NMBC component of Samba to enable it's WINS Server
wins support = yes

# DNS Proxy - tells Samba whether or not to try to resolve NetBIOS names
# via DNS nslookups. The built-in default for versions 1.9.17 is yes,
# this has been changed in version 1.9.18 to no.
password server =None
security = SHARE
guest ok = yes
dns proxy = no

[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = no
writeable = yes

# NOTE: If you have a BSD-style print system there is no need to
# specifically define each individual printer
[printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /var/spool/samba
browseable = no

# Set public = yes to allow user 'guest account' to print
printable = yes

[share]
comment = Open Directory
path = /share
guest ok = yes
writeable = yes

Sometimes, samba sharing problems are caused by the permission settings.

Try setting the permission for /share to 777:

chmod -R 777 /share

Can a regular samba user access their own samba folder from windows using their username/password?

Can you see the samba directory structure from the windows system?

What is the windows error message when you try to connect as an anonymous/guest user?

No, When I bring up the network folders the /share folder doesn't even show up. It isn't until I look at all the networked computers that I even see my computer. Then when I try to access the folders/drives on the computer it gives me the following error:

//Jjinx is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found.

I have tried making it accessible to only specific users to see if that would work, but that too didn't work.
