No sound in FC4

FC4 recognizes my snd card: snd_cs46xx, which is correct.
But I have no sound.
Checked sound levels in the mixer and their OK.
It works when I boot into Debian(Mepis) using the same driver.
Any suggestions???

Just to make sure using alsamixer, check to see if there is a MM at the top of the bar. If so hit the M key to unmute the channel. Should need mostly volume and pcm channels. Name may differ. If this helps then set the volume levels and hit the esc to exit. Now su - into root and run the command ' alsactl store '.

See if that works, if not will check for something else.

Ok I checked Alsamixer and nothing is muted.
This is so strange , the correct driver is loaded, the volume
isn't muted, but no sound.

Right-Click on the speaker-icon in the desktop-panel and choose "Open Volume Control"

If there is a tab called "Switches" open it.

Look for a digital/analog switch and set it to analog.

This is what I had to do to get audible sound from my SB Audgy 2...
