No sound in FC 9?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
All of a sudden I can't hear any Internet music videos. Can someone tell me how to return it to some type of default state? This happened like two days ago. I have a Creative Labs sound card, if it'll help. Thanks.

Re: can't open alsa.conf as root

What steps should I use to open it? via terminal window? I'm sorry, but I have forgotten the simplest command in Linux.

Thanks, Mr-Bisquit.
I tried your suggestion but it didn't work. So, I took out the sound card and reinstalled it. Now it works.

Upgrade to FC 11 or FC 12

But the latest version I have is 9. I'll have to buy a new Linux magazine in order to get the latest versions of FC. Thanks for the suggestion.

I never tried downloading it online.

I'll try it and see. The reason I go out to get the CDs was because I didn't want to deal with ISO images. I don't know how to get them to work.

Thanks.

Downloaded FC 11 via BitTorrent but for rpm only?!

How come? I finished downloading FC 11 via Torrent but when I tried to install it, it says it's for rpm only? How can I make it work? Or is there something wrong. What else can I do? I don't want to download all these files which would clog up the free space. Thanks.

This is what I've installed.

Sorry. I tried to install it but was confused at the end when I saw it said "rpm":

Fedora-11-i686-Live.torrent Fedora 11 i686 Live 689M 2009-06-09

After the torrent had finished, a box popped up asking whether I wanted to install the file, I clicked OK, then another box popped up saying it's only for RPM files.

FC 11 i686 Live. torrent is what i downloaded.

Fedora-11-i686-Live.torrent

Now I see that I might have to burn them onto CDs, or DVDs before I can use them? Now I need to download burning software? It'll take me forever to get it done. I'm so frustrated by this stuff. That's why I go to the store to get the cds from the magazines because I know it takes a long time for me to deal with ISO images and burning them onto media such as CDs or DVDs, etc...
