NFS/NIS Fedora 8 portmap issue

Hello all. My goal is to setup NFS/NIS between two Fedora machines. The one that will be the server is running Fedora 7. The client is on Fedora 8. Fedora 7 has the portmap package as a standalone and Fedora 8 tells me the following when attempting to install it (since it doesn't appear to be installed):

-----Begin Paste-----
[root@F8 rpcbind]# yum install portmap
livna 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB 00:00
fedora 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB 00:00
updates 100% |=========================| 2.3 kB 00:00
freshrpms 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB 00:00
dribble 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
Requested dep: portmap is provided by installed package
Nothing to do
-----End Paste-----

Typing "rpm -qa | grep portmap" returns zero results. It appears that Fedora 8 has done something different with the portmap service from Fedora 7, or at least that's the impression I get.

Here are the results from a few different commands:
[root@F8 rpcbind]# whereis portmap
portmap:
[root@F8 rpcbind]# which portmap
/usr/bin/which: no portmap in (/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/lib/ccache:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/root/bin)
[root@F8 rpcbind]# locate portmap
/usr/share/doc/selinux-policy-3.0.8/html/services_portmap.html
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.23.1-42.fc8-i686/include/asm-generic/libata-portmap.h
/var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs/portmap
/var/lib/rpcbind/portmap.file

Before I do so, is there anything I should know before taking the portmap package off of Fedora 7 and putting it on Fedora 8? What's confusing is that it seems to be telling me that portmap is already installed, but that it's kind of rolled into another dependency or something. Am I just missing something extremely obvious here? Any/all guidance is extremely appreciated.

Regards,
LoadedMind

RE

I believe I might have answered my own question. Through reading another forum here on linuxquestions.org, I found out that portmap does appear to have been replaced by rpcbind. Does the same hold true for RedHat ES 5? I'll try to answer my own question here soon if someone else isn't kind enough to have already answered it.

Best regards,

It is still named portmap in RHEL 5. I believe that portmap was replaced by rpcbind in Fedora 7 if I'm not mistaken.
