new to fedora

i have been a regular user of redhat 9. i am facing lot of incompatibility issues now on redhat 9. php ,apache , mysql , libxml2 in redhat 9 are almost old versions & r not supported for some projects. Upgradation on individual package didn't help. now, i want to switch over to any distro which is packed with all latest packages. someone advised for fedora core 3 ??? so, how robust & stable is fedora core 3 ?? will be it wise for me if i change from redhat to fedora 3 ??? if yes, which one should i download ? i have a i686 board ( intel 865 GBF, p4 3 GHz processor ). but the iso image available at http://fedora.redhat.com/download/#download is for i386. Will it b ok for me ?
thanx

It wont be the most cutting edge for long since fedora core 4 is coming out this summer but I personally like it. For me it is a very robust system and I have only had a few minor problems; however, if you read the reviews http://www.linuxquestions.org/review...hp?product=360 most people seem to like it or have serious problems with it
