New KDM Theme --> cannot log in
 

Hey everyone,

I'm in real trouble! I installed a new KDM theme (login screen) for KDE, namely Gear KDM Theme from KDE-Look.org.
After I rebooted an error message appeared telling me that the theme does not contain a specified input field and that therefore a default login screen will be loaded. Unfortunately I cannot type my username/pw in the default screen, because the input-field is inactive. The keyboard works, but I cannot type anything.

Can anyone help me to change back the theme??

PS: I have Fedora Core 4 and KDE 3.4.

I'm sure there are better ways to do this but here my idea.

When you get to grub press the down arrow till you highlight the kernel you want to use. Then press e (to edit) then select the second line down and press e again and add a 3 to the end of the line, now press return then press b. (this boots linux into init 3 instead of init 5)

This will load you into linux without starting X. log in at the command prompt with your usual user and password. then type startx (or startkde I can't remember). You should now be into kde. without needing the graphical login screen!

Now go and change the theme back using the control center!

Perfect!
One Detail: I added " 3" (not "3") to that line (maybe "3" works as well).

anyone know why this happens? I'm having the same problem, and I would love to be able to change KDM.

It may be a buggy KDM theme, I don't use the standard KDM theme, I downloaded another one from KDE-look and it works fine

I tried a different theme also, with the same result--maybe I chose two buggy themes. I guess I will try a third.
