new install- no root device found

Hi all

I've just installed Fedora 12 over my Ubuntu install to try something new, everything seemed to install fine but when I boot into the system I select Fedora and then it gives me this:-

GPU lockup-switching to software fbcon

No root device found

Boot has failed, sleeping forever

sd 5:0:0:0 [sdf] assuming drive cache:write through

it repeats the last line a few times.

Any ideas how to fix this? and how do I set Windows as the default boot selection?

Thanks in advance

Eric

I had the same problem, I wound up installing Debian to get rid of the message. I would suggest filing a bug against the Anaconda package at bugzilla and see if they have any suggestions. It appears to be extension 4 file system problem. I have F11 (which uses Extension 3 by default) installed on a laptop and it runs just fine. I used the net install disks for both installs by the way.

I realize this isn't much help but it might give an idea on what to look for.
