New init scripts?

Has fedora realeased some new init scripts with FC3 or somthing? They're really getting on my tits.

When I boot, it processe's all the kernel goodness, up to se linux whereby the init scripts should kick in - but nothing is printed to the screen. The daemons are being started because I notice the console mouse daemon doing its stuff.

Can I safley rectify this, and get those "OK / Failed" messages back?

u want to see all kernel stuff and ok/failed messages of daemons by the default, right?
if so,
edit /boot/grub/grub.conf
and remove rhgb and quiet words at end of line.
it will be shown like this:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.681_FC3 ro root=LABEL=/

good luck.

'quiet' and 'rhgb' only effect the kernel. The init scripts afterwards arnt diaplying anything. Nothing to do with the kernel?

Yes. After the kernel finishes doing it's stuff, the init scripts should start up, 'saying' ok / failed as the services start and stop, but they dont actually echo anything to the screen, however, the services are started.

When shutting down, I can see the ok / failed messages.

my fc3 echo those "ok/failed" messages to screen during the booting and shutting down. maybe it is a trouble with only your fc3. did u install anything could cause to hide "ok/failed" messages ?

good luck.

so you've tried this then, and it didn't work? well, nothing to do except reinstall.

That's the most bullshit answer I have ever heard on a tech support forum.

I will seek help somewhere else.
