New in linux enviroment - trying to install qt-3.3.7-0.1.fc5.src (mythtv-user)

Hello guys,

I am a new user of linux.
I have Fedora Core 5 on VmWare without internet connection.
I am trying to install mythtv.

i try to install now qt-3.3.7-0.1.fc5.src.rpm but i cant.

I copied the rpm file in /usr/local and did
# rpm -i qt-3.3.7-0.1.fc5.src.rpm
an the result was
warning: group brewbuilder does not exist - using root

How shall i continue the installation or how shall i do the installation.

I must use the qmake command for mythtv software.

Well you got the source package installed now you got to build the qt binaries for installation;

cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
rpmbuild -bb --define 'dist .fc5' gt.spec

Hello thandar,

That is certainly throwing yourself in at the deep end. Installing Mythtv is hard enough but compiling it on a VMWare image from source with no internet connection is quite something - you must be a very patient person!

Myself, I would use ATrpms repository and Jarod's mythtv guide for Fedora (google it) to install the necessaries - up to you.
